The floodgates will open.

Hello, everyone!

Wow, I am so pumped right now. I just realized how many games come out within the next few months that I am personally looking forward to! Without too much explanation, allow me to share with you what I am personally looking to get my giant furry hands on:

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (July 31st, 2012)

I am a very big KH fan. I've been playing the games since the first one on the PS2, and I pretty much own all of them save for KH: Re: Coded. I have been excited for this one ever since it was announced, like, two years ago and the day to play is finally upon us. It sucks that it comes out in Europe first, but that's alright! I so can't wait to start bouncing off all the walls in every world.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition (August 24th, 2012)

So, long story short, fans asked for Dark Souls to come to PC. Not only did From Software and Namco Bandai comply, they are going to put the game out will a not insignificant amount of new content! I loved Dark Souls ever since I first played it on the XBOX 360, but I didn't have the pleasure of online. Now, it's coming to the PC and I will enjoy every second of that new content!

Guild Wars 2 (August 28th, 2012)

I may not have had the pleasure of playing the first Guild Wars, but I fell in love with the world of Tyria upon seeing my first trailer for the game (which I believe was a Gamescom trailer...I kind of forget). My love deepened when I was lucky enough to be involved in the beta weekends and stress tests that the game has had. Simply put, I cannot wait to make my place in Tyria history. Charr for the win! Monsters unite! RAAAAAWWWWR!!

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (September 11th, 2012[I think...])

I got into Tekken not too long ago; I'm okay at it, I guess. But my less-than-professional status at the game didn't stop me from getting excited about this new one. I didn't play the original Tag (my first Tekken was 6) but I'm pretty sure with a lot of practice, I can get a handle on this new game. If you can guess who my main character is, you get a cookie...not one of mine, though. I'm still indecisive as to who my second will be...

And there you have it; the games of Fall that I am most excited for. Thanks for reading and allowing me to talk to you about my most anticipated Fall bangers.

Stomp ya later!

(BTW, all images are (C) their original owners. I take no ownership of ANY of these images. Please don't sue me; this whole thing is just for fun.)

Hey, there!

Hey, there (hey, that's the title)!

I apologize for the inactivity, but I've been doing some stuff recently to basically force myself to have a project to work on. I'm not dead, nor am I ignoring my new blog here; I've just been lacking in the stuff to post department. If my project goes on to actually become something worth talking about, I'll probably have a lot more to say. For now, I leave you with this:

Yup.

E3: Electronic Excrement Expo

Hey guys...yeah, I'm sad right now. Sad because this year's E3 (so far) is a total bore.

What Happened?

The big three press conferences failed to impress in any way; Microsoft's conference showed Halo 4 (which I don't care about) and then they spent the entirety of their conference talking about tablet support for their console. I honestly zoned out and then fell asleep during that entire show. And if it wasn't the two things above, it was some other aim-down-sights game that had too many explosions and too little excitement. Oh yeah, and they also tried to make multi-platform games look better on their console by telling you that you can shell out money for DLC on their console first.

And then Sony's conference...ugh. They spent a huge chunk of their conference talking numbers and new partnerships. They did show Quantic Dream's next game which I'm...oddly not excited for considering how much I dig Heavy Rain (seriously, I love that game) and then they showed "Playstation Soulless Brawler" which looks like utter shit on its own merits, let alone when you compare it to its obvious source material (which I'm not going to do, because it goes against my policies). They also showed The last of Us which...I also can't bring myself to care about. Their biggest blunder, however, was failing to show really anything for that shiny new handheld that they recently released! They acknowledged the existence of a "Call of Doodie" game, but that's for the lowest common denominator of those who call themselves "gamers" to get some quick sales on the thing. I am actually interested in buying a Vita sometime in the future, but they aren't trying to give any reasons beyond Street Fighter X Tekken...but I already have that on PS3.

Instead of showing off a heafty amount of Vita games, they spent 10-15 minutes talking about some gimmicky piece of nonsense called "Wonderbook" for ten years olds who's parents/older siblings happen to have a PS3. There was nothing NEW at their show and if it was new, it was hardly worth noting. And then they also started on their own "DLC exclusivity" tangent.

And then Nintendo...siiiiiigh. I was completely ready to be super duper excited for their show...but they also failed to deliver. They started their show so strong with Pikmin 3 for Wii U, but the show went downhill very fast. The majority of my Big N's show was showing off games that are already out for other consoles and if they weren't that, then they were games that I had known about previously. They then decided it would be a great idea to show Wii Fit U and an even more wonderful idea to end the show with NintendoLand. Come on, guys! Where's Metroid? Where's Zelda? Where's a freakin' HD STARFOX?! What the HELL is going on?! Where are the awesome surprises?! I already knew about New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Mario Bros. 2 was revealed already! Which reminds me: why were are talking about 3DS games in a Wii U presentation when the 3DS games were getting their own show anyway? I appreciate the fact that Nintendo is also trying to appeal to their new, quote, casual demographic...but they are not the ones who watch E3.

I don't understand. Maybe this is the result of longer development cycles taking up so much time that there's no time to devote to creating games that will surprise the crowds this year rather than showing the same stuff we showed last year. None of the big three had much of anything interesting to say and while I am most likely still going to buy a Wii U just because I know what's (hopefully) going to be on it in the future, Nintendo didn't do a good job of securing that future by showing stuff that would be available in 2013. Ubisoft seemed to be the only presser that had new stuff to show, but my interest in the stuff only goes so far, save for Rayman: Legends. EA's conference was dominated by sports BS and rumors of Dead Space 3 were floating around for so long that the game may as well have been confirmed before they showed it.

I dunno...maybe I was expecting too much? Or has the usual "WOW" factor of E3 died in the wake of the recent decline of the Games Industry as a whole?

Stomp ya later...I guess...

Electronic Entertainment Expo [E3] Begins!

Hello, once more!

This particular post is directed toward those that, like myself, dabble in the hobby of video gaming. I don't normally like to call myself a "gamer" as that term has become poisoned by the spoiled, insufferable antics of many who carry the title, but this post isn't about that.

This post is about the annual E3 event and how it will begin going down today. However, I probably won't be watching any pressers today because the only one I am interested in (Nintendo) doesn't start until tomorrow. 'Course, I will be keeping up with the all of the latest news and relaying what really makes me excited (if anything) here, when it happens.

Good gaming, and stomp ya later!

Idea: X-Kaiju

Hey, all!

I am here once more to talk about...something. As you have probably surmised, I am somewhat of a creative beast. I have lots of ideas in my head, though some don't get much farther than the conceptual stages. Some do get farther than that but the ones that don't, I effectively call "brain farts". "Idea" is a little segment where I relay one of those ideas to you, the reader.

Today, we're going to talk about one of my relatively new ideas called "X-Kaiju", pronounced "Cross Kaiju"
The Logo

As you know, I love giant monsters AKA kaiju AKA daikaiju; their city-stomping, earth-shaking, other-monster-face-punching ways have enchanted me for a good seven years now, though I can trace these wonderful feelings of mine developing more like fifteen years ago. Anyway, my favorite kaiju of them all is one that pretty much everyone knows and that is Godzilla, the original King of the Monsters. My love for kaiju and my newly developed artistic and creative abilities and thought process have given rise to this thing I call "X-Kaiju".

X-Kaiju's Main Monster, Djermengandre...hey, that sounds familiar...

"X-Kaiju" follows the adventures and encounters of its main monster, Djermengandre...yes, I am the main monster of this thing, but it is a different version of me. Anyway, Djermengandre is called the "X-Kaiju" because of his unique ability to devour weakened enemies and use their DNA to adjust his own genetic code on the fly, gaining permanent new abilities or just flatout making him stronger; kind of like the "Megaman" of kaiju.

The story isn't just monster fights and senseless destruction, however...okay, its mostly that, but allow me to go on. It also follows the events surrounding Verra's (that's the planet's name) Kaiju Response Division, a section of the global military that in itself has its own two sections, being the militaristic "Defenders" section tasked with fighting the monsters and the Research and Development section which is tasked with studying the monsters and creating new gadgets to use against them; they are often trying to create non-violent devices that serve to drive the monsters away from cities rather than killing them and are the focus of the "human side" of our story.

"X-Kaiju" has a lot of things going on it; its got action, romance, conspiracy, raw emotion and the mysteries surrounding the origins of the main Kaiju. I imagine that it would not only be a fun story to work on, but it would fun for those who decided to read it.

If I were to get off my lazy butt and bring this thing to fruition, it would be a comic. This is because I've been reading a lot of Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog and it awakened a latent desire inside of me to create my own brand of serial fiction. The series would be structured in a number of arcs or what I would call "movies" that tell a focused story for whatever number of issues it takes to tell that story; when that story ends, I would move on to the next one and then the next one until the final arc. Even though all of the stories would seem isolated, they would all connect in the timeline of the main story. Ironically, I already have a good idea as to how the story would end.

Well, that's pretty much it. Thanks for sitting here and seemingly taking interest in this installment of Idea. I'll have more for you as they come and who knows...maybe "X-Kaiju" will cease to be just an idea sometime in the future!

BTW, you'll be able to read a more detailed description of X-Kaiju Djermengandre on my DeviantArt profile soon.
